AI: hype or reality? Internet blackout in Íránu and investigation into Grok

Artificial intelligence is penetrating an increasing number of areas of cybersecurity – from code analysis to content moderation on social networks. In a new episode of the podcast Digitální mlha, Stanislav Novotný and security analyst Jan Kopřiva address the question of whether the current wave of AI truly brings a fundamental technological breakthrough, or whether it is largely another technological hype.

One topic, for example, is the incident around the platform Moltbook, where security researchers discovered a poorly secured database containing approximately 1,5 milionu API klíčů. The case again shows how a large amount of sensitive data is being generated today around AI tools and how crucial proper configuration of cloud services is.

The discussion also touches on tools that use AI for security code audits. The company Anthropic, for example, stated that its system Claude Code Security was able to identify hundreds of vulnerabilities when analyzing open-source projects. The question, however, remains to what extent similar tools can truly replace traditional security testing.

The case of the AI system Grok also attracted significant attention, which European regulators began addressing due to photo manipulation and the generation of sexualized content. Regulation of generative AI is thus becoming an increasingly topical issue not only for technology companies but also for state institutions.

The episode also covers other current events in cybersecurity – for example the heavy fines in Velké Británii for insufficient age verification of users of online services, the internet blackout v Íránu in the context of geopolitical tensions, or a phishing campaign on WhatsAppu that has been spreading in recent weeks even among IT professionals.
