In recent days, several events have appeared in cyberspace that deserve attention. Internet and power outages were confirmed in Venezuela, which has opened a debate about the possible involvement of cyber capabilities — so far without technically confirmed evidence of a targeted cyberattack.

Parallel to that, researchers have warned about phishing campaigns abusing trusted cloud infrastructure, an incident involving a malicious update to the Trust Wallet extension leading to cryptocurrency thefts, and an ongoing wave of scams impersonating official institutions, including VZP.

The common denominator of these cases is the exploitation of trust — whether toward state institutions, well-known brands, or legitimate technological platforms. That is why it is increasingly difficult today at first glance to tell what is a real incident, what is a deliberate fraud, and where facts end and speculation begins.

👉 A quick overview of last month’s events can be found in the new episode of CCTV FLASH. 👉 The new episode of the ALEF SecurityCast podcast goes in-depth on the individual topics, in which Stanislav Novotný discusses the context, risks, and how to act in similar situations.
