KAREL JANEČEK: AI are just zeros and ones. Are we on the threshold of a new chapter of humanity?
Interview in the silence of the monastery
We had the opportunity to meet with Karel Janeček in the extraordinary setting of the Kláštera minoritů sv. Jakuba in the very heart of Prague. From the first moment it was clear this meeting would be different. Karel radiated a calm and balanced energy and the monastery space itself lent the conversation depth and a silence that is often missing today.
After the initial nervousness – after all, this is not an entirely ordinary guest – an atmosphere of open and honest dialogue quickly developed. The conversation naturally moved toward topics that resonate across society today: artificial intelligence, deepfakes, trust in the digital world and the question of where the human being fits into it all.
What we talked about
We talked about why, according to Karel Janeček, AI "are just zeros and ones", why technologies themselves are neither good nor bad – and why personal contact, human creativity and individual responsibility may become more important than ever in the future. The conversation touches not only on technology but also on values, society and on ways not to lose oneself in a rapidly changing world.
A calm conversation without shortcuts
The result is a calm and thoughtful conversation that doesn't take shortcuts or offer simple answers. Rather, it opens up questions – and gives space to pause and reflect on them for a moment.
