Denmark speaks openly about Russian cyberattacks. “Clear evidence of hybrid warfare,” says the intelligence service

The Danish government and military intelligence in December published an unusually open and hard-hitting statement on the cyberattacks that have hit the country in recent years. According to the Danish Defence Intelligence Service (DDIS) these were targeted operations by pro-Russian groups linked to the Russian state, which are part of an ongoing hybrid war against Europe.

This is not the first time Denmark has linked cyber threats to Russia. The current statement, however, is the most open, most specific and politically toughest ever made – and for the first time it so clearly connects specific incidents, specific groups and a state.
